Sophia Campos for District C
Protecting Houston communities from political overreach.
I'm running for district C because Houston's hands are tied, facing state overreach and a Mayor who isn't offering protection to Houston's communities.
I've seen how pre-compliance has left our communities unprotected: LGBTQ communities exposed to bigotry, HPD cooperations with ICE increasing dramatically since Mayor Whitmire took office, infrastructure and flood mitigation funds misappropriated, and transparency eroded. No deal is made in neutrality, and Houston needs leadership that can stomach reality without political spin.
The Mayor has made his bargain with MAGA clear: he'll "make Houston correct". I’m running to be a voice in city hall that forces legal visibility and accountability, and provides steady, unapologetic stewardship of District C.
Key Priorities
This campaign is about protection, accountability, and stewardship in the face of state overreach.
Protection of Houston’s Communities
I will work with state legislators who represent Houston to undo preemption laws that constrain Houston’s right to self-determination.
I will defend immigrant communities from enforcement creep, protect LGBTQ from sanctioned bigotry and erasure, and refuse quiet compliance with Abbott-led pressure campaigns that endanger our residents.
Safe, Dignified Living and Working Conditions for Houstonians
Housing and work should not be sites of exploitation. I will use the city’s procurement, enforcement, and oversight powers to protect tenants and workers, not shield or enrich bad actors.
Infrastructure and Flood Resilience
Houston’s vulnerability to flooding is not theoretical, it is ongoing, worsening, and shaped by political decisions. I will ensure that flood mitigation projects are completed as planned, that funds are not diverted or misappropriated, and that city confronts subsidence and climate risk with expertise rather than spin.
Strong leadership hinges on telling the truth and committing to the long work of protecting the city.
